Many migrant workers travel through Koraput and neighboring regions in search of employment\, often lacking access to healthcare\, sanitation\, and social protection. To address these critical issues\, Ekta has initiated a Transit Migrant Support Program to ensure health\, dignity\, and rights for migrating populations especially at railway station and bus stands. \n\n\n\n\nKey Objectives of the Project:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Health & Medical Support:  Providing basic healthcare services\, STI prevention\, and HIV/AIDS screening for transit migrants. \n\n Awareness & Risk Reduction:  Educating migrants on occupational health\, hygiene\, nutrition\, and disease prevention. \n\n Counseling & Mental Health Support:  Addressing stress\, trauma\, and psychosocial issues among migrants through counseling and referrals. \n\n Access to Social Schemes & Legal Aid: Linking migrants to government welfare schemes\, social security benefits\, and legal support. \n\n\n\n\n\n Safe Mobility & Shelter Support:  Ensuring safe transit facilities\, emergency shelter\, and protection against exploitation. \n\n\n\n\n\nImpact & Outreach:\n\n\n\n\nOperating across Koraput\, Semiliguda\, and Pottangi blocks\, this initiative focuses on seasonal laborers\, daily wage earners\, and vulnerable migrant groups. DESCRIPTION:Mental health remains a critical yet often overlooked issue\, particularly for persons with mental illness (PWMI) and epilepsy\, who face stigma\, social exclusion\, and lack of access to proper care. To address these challenges\, Ekta has initiated the Community Mental Health Program across Koraput\, Jeypore\, and Dasmantpur blocks\, aiming to provide comprehensive support and empowerment. \nThis program focuses on capacity building of project staff\, service providers\, and community institutions (carers’ groups)\, ensuring improved healthcare access for 1\,100 PWMI and their 1\,100 carers. It also promotes livelihood opportunities to enhance economic independence\, while actively working to reduce stigma and discrimination through community mobilization. \nThrough community-based rehabilitation (CBR)\, medical intervention\, counseling\, vocational training\, and social awareness\, this initiative fosters inclusion\, dignity\, and empowerment for persons affected by mental health conditions. Together\, we strive for a society where mental well-being is a priority\, and every individual gets the support they deserve.
