Breaking Barriers: Devraj’s Journey of Hope

In the remote village of Maligunja, Koraput, 1.5-year-old Devraj Pangi faced overwhelming odds. After losing his father at just six months old, he was left in the care of his mother, who has a people living with mental illness (PWMI). With no support system, Devraj struggled with severe developmental delays—he couldn’t sit, stand, or communicate, and his muscles were too weak for basic movement.

Recognizing his urgent needs and interventions, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) referred him to the Ekta Community Rehabilitation Center (CRC), where a personalized intervention plan and care was implemented. Through therapeutic care, medical support, and nutrition, Devraj made remarkable progress. In just two months, he gained postural control, began responding to people, and took his first steps with a roller aid.

Now, the focus is on enhancing his mobility, speech, and independence. Devraj’s journey highlights the transformative power of early intervention. With the right care, even the most vulnerable children can thrive, proving that inclusion and accessibility can change lives. He is a source of inspiration for many!
