The Creche Initiative is a vital program designed to enhance the nutritional status and early childhood development (ECD) of children aged 7 months to 3 years. This initiative ensures accessibility, proper nutrition, developmental support, and health monitoring, laying a strong foundation for a child’s future.
Objectives of the Creche Initiative
- Universal Access to Creches: Provide safe and well-equipped crèches for all children in the target geography.
- Nutrition and Early Childhood Development
- Offer supplementary feeding to combat malnutrition.
- Implement play-based learning and age-appropriate stimulation to foster cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Facilitate access to government welfare schemes related to nutrition, immunization, healthcare, and early education.
- Growth Monitoring and Healthcare Linkages
- Identify children showing signs of growth faltering, underweight, or wasting.
- Ensure timely referrals to healthcare facilities for medical intervention.
- Conduct regular follow-ups to track progress and support recovery.
Currently, the initiative operates across 15 locations in 9 Gram Panchayats of Dasmantpur Block, Koraput district , Odisha, ensuring early childhood care for the most vulnerable children in these regions.
