Transit Migrant Health & Well-being Initiative

Migration is a crucial livelihood strategy for many individuals, yet transit migrants face significant health, safety, and social challenges. Many migrant workers travel through Koraput and neighboring regions in search of employment, often lacking access to healthcare, sanitation, and social protection. To address these critical issues, Ekta has initiated a Transit Migrant Support Program to ensure health, dignity, and rights for migrating populations especially at railway station and bus stands.
Key Objectives of the Project:
- Health & Medical Support: Providing basic healthcare services, STI prevention, and HIV/AIDS screening for transit migrants.
- Awareness & Risk Reduction: Educating migrants on occupational health, hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Counseling & Mental Health Support: Addressing stress, trauma, and psychosocial issues among migrants through counseling and referrals.
- Access to Social Schemes & Legal Aid: Linking migrants to government welfare schemes, social security benefits, and legal support.
Impact & Outreach:
Operating across Koraput, Semiliguda, and Pottangi blocks, this initiative focuses on seasonal laborers, daily wage earners, and vulnerable migrant groups. By collaborating with local authorities, transport hubs, and labour welfare organizations, Ekta strives to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient migrant community.
Through this program, Ekta is ensuring that no migrant is left behind, empowering them with knowledge, healthcare, and protection as they navigate their journey.
