Technical Officer – MHPSS (Mental Health & Psychosocial Support) (1 Position)
Main Responsibilities and Tasks Key:
- Provide technical leadership in planning, implementation, and monitoring of MHPSS interventions under the INCLUDE Project
- Develop and adapt context-specific MHPSS frameworks, tools, and guidelines in line with national and international standards
- Support capacity building of field teams, CBR workers, community volunteers, and partner organizations on basic psychosocial support, psychological first aid, and referral pathways
- Conduct needs assessments and situational analysis on mental health across geographies in three states to identify priority areas and intervention gaps
- Explore and engage with potential donor agencies for MHPSS-focused projects, including concept note and proposal development
- Integrate MHPSS components within CBR, livelihood, education, disability inclusion, and DRR interventions
- Ensure effective coordination with public health systems, mental health professionals, institutions, and referral networks
- Support implementation of the MEL framework, ensuring collection and analysis of data relevant to project indicators and results.
- Monitor quality and inclusiveness of project activities through regular field visits, beneficiary feedback, and data verification.
- Participate in regular project review and coordination meetings to improve adaptive
- Ensure effective use of data collection tools and adherence to data protection
- Support timely and accurate reporting of activity results, beneficiary reach, and
- Maintain up-to-date beneficiary records related to MHPSS and track individual and household-level outcomes.
- Monitor, document, and analyse MHPSS outcomes, best practices, and lessons learned for donor reporting, learning, and advocacy
- Support community awareness initiatives to reduce stigma related to mental health and disability
- Contribute to organizational learning, strategy development, and representation in relevant coordination forums
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree in Candidates with a Master’s in Social Work with specialization in mental health/psychiatric social work will also be considered with relevant work experience.
- Certification or training in MHPSS, counselling, or psychosocial interventions will be an added advantage
- Clinical Psychologist with Govt
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in MHPSS, mental health programs, disability inclusion, or community-based interventions
- Experience working with persons with disabilities, vulnerable populations, or humanitarian/development settings is desirable
- Prior experience in project planning, proposal writing, and donor communication will be an added advantage
Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of MHPSS principles and community-based approaches
- Ability to develop tools, training modules, and technical documents
- Good proposal writing and reporting skills
- Strong coordination, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Language Requirement
- Proficiency in Odia, English, and Hindi (spoken and written)
Travel Requirement
- Willingness to travel 25–30% of working days per month across project locations
